A monolithic aluminum structure, designed first as a piece that could live in a display case, with the baked-in functionality of a bottle opener.

It started as three directions, sketched on paper, refined to one. I proceeded with a run of 3D printed models, used to test the ergonomics, manufacturability and functionality. The final model fits in one hand and opens a bottle easily.

The chosen print was sanded, smoothed and painted, then used as the pattern for an aluminum sand casting. The aluminum was filed flat, polished and linearly brushed to achieve a clean, consistent finish. The model currently remains functional and in use.
